ha ha, here are a few interesting names that describe a gathering of species.... several may fit an unwieldy number of SUPsters.
The first are probably how we are mostly viewed in any numbers

Cockroaches:
an intrusion
Herons: a siege

Lapwings: a deceit
Parrots: a pandemonium
Penguins: a rookery
Ravens: an unkindness
Buzzards: a wake
Ducks: a paddling or badling
Crows: a murder or horde
Cormorants: a gulp
Elephants: a parade
Lemurs: a conspiracy
Porpoises: a turmoil
Salamanders: a maelstrom

I am of 2 minds on this:

1 - at home:
we have one of the largest SUP crews anywhere.
the good news is.... most are VERY skilled surfers and watermen and women.
So much fun surfing with this crew... and all the surfers that we share the line-up with.
(I think it's time for a Cape Cod SUP Crew video!!!)

2 - on road trips:
I never want to see another SUP
I'd prefer to earn my own place in the line-up - not guilt by association

Haha these great, some really whitty ones!
Im not sure why they were all congregated together at that one spot in the photo, I was about 200m down the beach with only 2x other sups having just as good waves to ourselves.
here's another sup question for you:
Do you ever find that people on sups have a tendency to just go one way and tend to either go left or right?

most times I watch them they seem to just mainly go to their forehand side.
On the day of that photo, this other girl near me just kept trying to go left on a right hand breaking wave that I was closer to the pocket on. Was carnage's watching her paddle directly towards me every time! Lucky she wasn't that good missed a few otherwise it would've been lethal!

A plague. Can't say I've ever seen more than 2 or 3 at it thankfully, which if I was the surfer and not the supper, I'd probably call an annoyance. That's assuming they're surfer who have taken to sups and can actually handle themselves appropriately. If they're suppers who have taken to waves, I'd call it a disaster and get the hell away from them. Big difference.
