had a go on a mini whopper yesterday - 9'0 x 33 - 34 - the thing surfed insane! If you chipped the nose it would be sub 9'0.

Have been spending a bit of time over the last few weeks on the new Starboard 8.5 x 29.5 Pro both in flat water and in the surf and am having a blast on it. Have also put several friends and family members on it - from beginners to rippers and all good feedback so far.
Also got some feedback yesterday from a mate fresh in from Indo and apparently the sup of choice over in Bali at the moment is the Starboard 7.11. Good suppers are apparently tearing the place apart on the litttle starby.
Must be true what I read on the Breeze last week - Starboards Rip !!

I've tried both the 8-10 naish and also the 8'5 starboard pro... and found both boards have very good surfing potential.. I found the stability that the 8'5 starboard offers - along with excellent surfability has won me over the 8'10 naish... but only just! !

Ok now i dont get on here much but i do SUP and i have surfed for a long time and i'm sorry but seriously the 8'10 Naish and 8'5 starboard are so different, all you have to do is look at them.

8'10 Naish looks like a short board good rocker nice drawn in nose and tail and short board looking

8'5 Starboard looks like a Mal of sorts 30 inchs wide from nose to tail which has to give the feel of extra stabitily, of course people learning can stand on it.

I have been on both dont own either the Naish out surfed the starboard for sure it went better from rail to rail rather than the flat turn of the starboard. Yoda

I don't think Starlet was doing a review on the 2 boards - just offering her opinion and personal feelings about the two boards. AND the starboard is actually 29.5 wide and is not a big wide mal looking sup. It is a brand new model and has a very modern shortboard style rocker and more pulled in nose and rounded pin tail.

Oh yeah - would love to have a go on one of the new Lopez tuflite 8'11s - they look insane and from the couple of waves I have seen roscoe on, they go as well as they look.

My mate just got the Gerry 8-11 it rips and it comes with the new Gerry quad fins , sweet set of fins they will be in my board soon , PSH is also bringing out a new range of pro models in the sub 9's , they look really nice The Naish 8-10 is a great looking board but I feel it's just a bit skinny in volume for the general population.

McTavish 9'0" as a quad offers incredible turning with a bit of slide when you need it, Good all rounder with stability offered with the thicker rail 'nice and easy" Gerry looks insane also.

Im riding the Starboard 8'5 pocket rocket and am quite happy with it. It is pretty wide up the front, but that helps with stabilty in the less than perfect condtions I ride it in.

are you talking 8'5 pocket rocket with the wider nose or the 8'5 pro??

Yes the naish and starboard are COMPLETELY different - they are 2 completely different types, shapes, and style of boards. everyone is after something different with their surfing - at the end of the day its a personal choice!!

It's only hospitable to help you out mate, Red thumbs are all yours.

P.S I made myself a new paddle, it came out unreal, have been using it full time. Wooden epoxy laminated shaft, PU Foam core blade and palm grip handle vacuum bagged with Polypropylene cloth. I really like it and i think there is something about wood that feels 'right'. I'd love you to take it for a paddle. Mark 2 is on the way, this time with Pauwlonia, Cedar and Bamboo........

See ya soon.

Even if you had ridden them all your best would be different to somebody elses anyway.

The back to front foot weight ratio for every surfer is as unique as a fingerprint. The saying one mans trash is another mans treasure never applies more than in surfboards.

Hey Lacey - after another coupla days on the starboard 8.5 I have to say that it is the best sub 9 production board that I have personally ridden and I am loving it (its actually the only one I've ridden but thats beside the point ) and I gotta say that seeing Starlet GC on this board I reckon her surfing has gone up another level again so I hope she likes her newy as much as I do - actually I kinda hope she doesn't so I can get it off her
