Ummm.......I've been working in Local Government for 13 years now so as to avoid shift work, and just do a basic 35 hour week / 9 day fortnight with 'flex time' so I can choose my core hours and take a 'flex' day based on needs at home or the surf forecast.
Best thing I ever did leaving the high pressure environment for a laid back style as I can surf the early and not start until 9.30am or finish up at 3.30pm and have the evening free if required for home or surf.
I supervise a team of Development Compliance & Environmental Compliance Officers at Wollongong Council and also undertake field work so as to not spend to much time in the office and be on the coast most of the time either in the water or not far from it.

(IE: Development Consent Breaches, Building Regs, Swimming Pool Compliance, Pollution Incidents, Environmental Issues, Land Clearing, Tree Removal etc).
I remember my Mum laughing at me when I told her I was throwing it in for a 'fun' job that runs parallel with my surfin' life - she told me it'd never happen and to knuckle down and wake up to myself......I never want to prove her wrong but I think I achieved what I set out to do.
I've always got a camera with me and most days snap some images from around the region and either pass them onto the surfers I shoot or for a few days, posted them here before it upset a couple angry ants.
