Okay mac, you just relax for a while and I'll talk **** for a bit, this remotely relates to surfing.

Remember a while back when I said I got an invite from out of nowhere to a mates party because he'd been diagnosed with mesothelioma?

That's on this Saturday.

Well, because of that I registered with the dust diseases board and today was my first check.

I'm happy to say I got a clean bill of health as far as Asbestos related diseases are concerned.

Moving on, I was describing to the quack this condition I've had for the last 30 years or so where whenever I start to exercise hard my chest goes incredibly tight and I can hardly get enough air into my lungs. After a while it goes away and I can exercise all day without a problem.

It's most noticeable when I surf, my first paddle out is by far the hardest, on a big close out day with lots of banks to get past, there's been a few occasions when I've been so rooted for breath, I've had to give up, turn around and go back in.

This chest specialist then turns around and says to me, "that's a classic asthma symptom, have you ever been checked?"

Anywho, I went and saw my local quack and she's prescribed a puffer to try about 30 mins before I go for a surf.

Wouldn't that be a turn up if it turns out to make a difference? Having asthma for 30 years and not even knowing.

So have they said you have had it since being a youngster? All the advice you get when your young seems to lend itself to if you swim / surf etc you will grow out of it or at least make it better?

I can recall it happening for almost my entire life but you're right about the surfing, the more I surf the less it happens.

I know that because we've got this killer hill near home that we walk up with the dog, it always ironed me out by the time I got to the top. But after surfing as much as possible for the last year, I can now handle it a lot better.

Just to liven it up a bit here's a letter I recently penned to Tracks magazine..........

Dear Sir or Madam,
Yes that’s right I'm talking to you. You the person who has driven straight into the car park and spied a peak with only one other surfer out. What are you thinking right now? Are you full of love for you fellow man or just another selfish consumer at the beach to get your fill? Whets your next move?
For the majority it seems the next move is to paddle straight out to the peak with one surfer on it, not have a look up and down the beach to see all the many other peaks with no surfers on them. Sure the chance of shark attack will be reduced by 50% immediately, but you have probably just ruined someone else's day. The guy on the peak has more than likely had a look at the well know reef breaks with 20 to 200 frothers already climbing all over each other, he's seen the peak further up the beach getting a touch more swell and he's made a decision. It wasn't a quick decision, he was probably up an hour or two before you were and has factored in a multitude of variables (tide, swell direction etc) before you have even turned the key in your SUV. His decision is based on factor's that may not be visible at all, he's injured, a learner, an old soul man or he may just prefer the silence that surfing alone can bring.
Who cares if you think you’re a better surfer than they are or you think they may enjoy your company and your many amusing anecdotes about your weekends away and the many delightful japes you and the fellows from the office play on each other, chances are you have completely stuffed someone else's idea of a good time. You have now reduced yourself to the status drunken interloper that spills beer all over a mates partner while you try and dance, is your nickname goat?
Take some time, I know there's a lot of pressure in life to get things done at speed, but have a look around find your own little slice of beach to surf. Let the other bloke have his moment in the sun and his commune with the ocean, chances are you'll have a better time and you won't have ruined someone else's day.

Lovin your work Tux,

Down our way there is always another peak 100m up, people are just to lazy to paddle further away from the easy access stairs to the car park.

It seems like I am at an AA meeting.

Its been 21 days since I have seen anything of substance posted in the SUP forum!

I was forced to search the dim dark depths of the site and ended up here where I was converted by Mac.

It appears whilst chatting to Mac earlier in the year he turned me into a manchurian candidate

I have burned my sups and dragged by mals back out.

So thats OG and Billboard Just Wrong to come clean,oh its ok JW we can share the love I think Jacko DJ and crew will see the light soon nah they love what they do and good on them. But I dont need a training /walking stick to aid my surfing, well not yet maybe in a few years

I've found the whole site boring of late, I've been flat strap and I dont know what's happened to the other guys. To be honest doggie ,Legion (same guy ) as there say and yes PB and Olivers rants keep it fun at times.
