There is a market for these boards without a doubt and they're here to stay. I prefer PU because to me it rides better and you can go custom and tweak things along the way. A lot of the big brand boards that are made here come out of a shaping machine so I guess they could be called popouts too.
At the end of the day though who really cares what people ride ?

I agree, what is a popout really as said above anything coming out of a machine is a popout in my book,so that's why I always order customs 1/2 pop 1/2 the real deal.

Geez we are getting all funky and serious in here but that's all good

Thats kinda funny Mac cos we sold an nsp to a well known old surfer (50+ yrs experience) who is a millionaire with a house on the beachfront. He can and does have any board he wants and is not "a cheap ar-e or learner with L plates" as you say.
I dunno, I can't explain it either. Maybe he was just sick of getting dings repaired on his fibreglass boards or something. Maybe he's finally learnt to think "never say never". Maybe he's Billboards illegitimate father!! - Mark

Cheap **** imho,no offence for the pro people but I see learners or hire boards kicking around and that's cool but a serious longboarder would never own one unless its dirt cheap imho, smash me for saying it but I'm 100% correct so any negative comments towards this post means your a cheap ar-e or learner with L plates.

Feel better now

I guess with the crowded breaks in that part of the world ding repairers would get pretty busy. I know a bloke who has a 10 foot Southpoint mal he drags out during summer school holidays.

There's a couple guys that ride'm (and foamies) around Manly for that reason, my general theory is don't hit people.

I did try and support the local shaper(s) but after 3 quotes the reality was I just couldn't stretch the budget, so had to go for yet another pop out. I will however get a custom next year...the wife has said so..so it must be true I am going to get a huge fireball made to my specs, I already got a quote and the timescale is quite impressive and that's to my door step so quite excited about that.

How do the newer NSP stuff go for weight?

The last time I tried to revisit my youful surfing days was +7 yrs ago (just after a shoulder op). Bought myself an NSP 7' 2".

Loved the shape, but the weight was very heavy Epoxy was tuff as fek though.

7'2" pintail slightly spooned nose was a wicked board for Perf beachies.

Wasn't big enough for me to paddle onto enough waves though. Shoulder gave me too much stick.. had to give it away.. fast foward to 2011 and I'm back for more! (with a lighter polyester 8'6" this time )

The only "new" one I have picked up is the 9.2 and it feels lighter than my old 9.2 nsp. Nsps and Bics are a tad heavier tho than tuflite but what you give away in weight you more than gain in durability over pu and other epoxy boards. The nsp boards from 8.2 up all have massive volume for their lengths so they really suit learners/bigger dudes and older broken or unfit lazy dudes (that covers me on all angles)
