Seems like there's enough interest in them and enough discussion to warrant their own room seperate from the short and longboard rooms.

Mate, the lb room has never even been about Longboarding so why start now...
It's a forum for longboarders. Actually it wasn't even that, half of the original pimpstars rode 666rs till they saw the light..
So what if I ride a midlength. Fish or whatever.
I don't ride wiggle sticks or do circus tricks so definitely not SB. If you want to post it go for it...
And if others don't like it then dont read it.

Thats funny, Ive ridden hp shorties all my life and still cant do circus tricks

Personally Im not a longboarder but I have ridden a couple and some nice mid length boards as well. From what I see most people that ride hpsb are not riding at a high level me included but the enjoyment that I get out of been able to surf them and enjoy them is what I love about surfing.
In my mind if its under 7,6 its a short board and over that they get into the 'mal' range.
In my group of friends we all ride hpsb but none of us really rip/shred but we enjoy our time in the water and generally get great waves.
What Im getting at is that not all shortboards are wiggle sticks or ridden that way.
After all that im grabbing my 6,3 and going for a surf have a great day all

Haha yeah lack of talent doesn't help

I suffer from that aswell but it isn't a length thing.
I have probably at least 6 boards under your mid length limit. All the way down to 5'10 not one of the is Hp and I will never own a machine shaped, sprayed white, logo'd up piece of disposable trash. My Merrick is tinted

It just not me. I grew up in the slater era and sitting in the water up to your tits never appealed to me. My first custom even had a round nose.
I get your point and understand why HP are fun to surf. I occasionally pinch a mates for a few but my idea is If you don't surf hp why ride one, push the volume out, add a 1/4 to the width, flatter the nose rocker. You'll catch more waves and have more fun but each to their own..
Ride what you want as long as you enjoy it.
I have mates that would spit in me for riding a lb if they didn't know me
