Lol, all you main landers...
Tassie, a place where 15 is a crowd, pumping waves and a drop in happens very rarely.
Surfing where I live is so chilled, you know everyone, everyone cheers everyone, every wave. I catch so many waves, people drop in on me and I don't even mind. Why ruin such a great atmosphere? I love talking to the old mal riders and then doing crossovers with them when I am on the mal.
A lot of us hate surfing on the mainland because it is just so agressive. I mean, we don't surf in Byron, or hardly the Goldy when we are there because it is just no fun. We surf Lennox when we are there but still that can be crowded so we just get out.
Localism is a ridiculous notion, we should all share the beach, whether someone rides a mal or shorty, whether they are doing rodeos or just starting to stand up. Just fun being in the water talking to everyone I think. I love how surfing can have people around my age, chatting to someone who is 65 and completely different and yet it is like they are my best mate (or as chrispy mentioned, my best carnt)
So lucky here. Main landers need to see what it is like!
Tom.
