Dr frontloop, I don't think you can sail Avalon on a NW wind as the wave is peeling left.
so come my question, how did the other reefs (just north of Avalon main looked like?) sailable on a NW?

i was on the 4.2 arrows impact and red starboard, my mate simon was the other young guy on a orange neilpryde core and a very distinctive JP (lots of repairs!). Yeah i was definetly struggling for a while as well, i think we left before the strongest wind, on the way back up to Perth we had to slow down to 60 at times just cos the rain was so heavy that we couldn't see the road. After sunday i was too sore to make the most of yesterday's carnage!

Smug Mode,

Dragged the Hardie feller out Sunday morn rather than waiting for the Arvy breezes sailed till 1430

The Hardy was like a big black blur hanging off his 5.8m issuing his Banchee wail as he went whistling by

Elmo

Senate estimates committee wants to know, is it the normal splat gybe or the more skillful splaaaaaaaaaaaaaat gybe you have mastered?

Mr H

it was the extended version of the splaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat gybe.
To bigger sail (6.5m slalom)
To smaller fin
To much wind
Going into it way to hot
Cavitation

Hey leski,
I not quite sure which reef you mean, when I sailed there during the summer on SW winds, the reefs looked pretty shallow. So I surfed only through the channel and on the left side. On sunday the waves were very big and I would not have sailed at the reefs, but there were some nice waves coming through the channel and the inside was rather flat, so not too bad. I also had a look at Geeries and it looked at bit more relaxed, but probably to onshore.

on the main reef (starting from the point and extending northward) the wave is a left hander, which is ok for wave riding on a SW (like in summer). That's why I don't think it it possible to ride this wave on a NW. So I was just wondering if the reefs between Geeries and Avalon would provide a rideable right hander wave on a NW wind.I've never been down there on a NW

Any more tornados?

What would it be like sailing in a tornado? Easy to Gybe?

Would a kitesurfer get strangled by their lines as their kite spins around them at 150kmh?

What sail size would you recommend?

The last one missed my house by 100m last time so this time I wanna be ready.

Bunbury got Trashed!

Hi leski,
I can not really remember how the wave was between Avalon and Geeries, but it was not a perfect righthander wave for NW, otherwise I would have remembered it. I think I should have tried Geeries, but I was more concentrating on finding someone to join me.
Dr.F.

Where is the wind today, I am ready for Cott.

weather beauro sucks, they just issue warnings, and grossly over estimate the wind so that when people have there houses blown over they cant sue... could be wrong
