Imax1 said.. I set the downhaul , pull lightly on outhaul with my fingers in the eyelet and set the distance with about 2 cm gap. It’s a vibe thing.

Soooo... is a reliable solution for this problem? Given the way carbon boom prices are going restoring my all booms suddenly seems like a pretty good option.
A fine tip white paint posca pen should work.. you will need to spray a clear coat after.
i repair my carbon booms when required. Rivets, snapped arms etc.. saves a lot of money.. some brands sell replacement tail pieces like simmer…am sure there are others.
I tried enamal paint pen and clear, didn’t last. It was a cheap clear acrylic I think from memory. it got more than messy, first go clear melted paint, and I had a zebra boom tail.
Can confirm posca pens with clear coat acrylic are commonly used on boards for graphics. I use them to hand draw logos on my boards.. with any type of additional coatings though the surface needs prepping and you need the correct finish coat in multiple layers. I’ll try a pen on my boom and see how it lasts. I only have black and the boom is carbon so it may be hard to see.
have repaired a few surfboard and applied a thin layer of coloured resin to hide yellow foam etc only to have it peel off.. 320-400 grit is needed to get a good bond.
Probably operator error, I did it messy and probably didn’t let pen dry enough. This is what happened last time there was a wind drought. Colors melted and I liked it! I think they were acrylic pens. Didn’t help scare off the turtles though.
