im still a newbie 12months sailling im going harness, back foot, start planning then front foot. reading this thread it seems im doing this wrong any idears is my setup wrong. i still do alot of cartweels if i dont get back foot in.
I'd practice front foot first. It is especially useful in lighter winds as FlickySpinny pointed out.
If you are still catapulting/cartwheeling just try hooking in last until you feel more comfortable with getting your back foot in. Nothing wrong with it.
Personally I hook in as soon as possible as I am very lazy,
but, when placing my back foot in I often take a lot of pressure with the back hand, as if I wasn't actually hooked in, just until that back foot is in correctly.
I still sometimes fall into a bad "zone" some days where I can't get back foot in neatly and I either
stub my toes continuously or nearly catapult trying.
