Oops! Sorry. My mistake. The $350 is the current auction price on ebay. The Buy It Now price is around $480 including shipping with some up around $550. The Drift Ghost is about $500 but there is only one on ebay.

Troppo, I think that you'll find that they'll be back up to $480+-, when Kogans get the Black in... and their web site fixed.
We're down to our last two.

Ghost wholesale price is less than gp3b.

If your willing to risk Kogan, go for it. But check warranty/return costs.
Especially with reports of up to 75% fail rate of gp3b.

Most US sellers on ebay ask $60 shipping. Some +$100.

I doubt it's even worth trying. 8mp cmos, plastic housing, and overpriced (for what it is).
GoProHero3Silver or DriftHD720 are cheaper, better options.
Really don't waist your money.

And no. I haven't tried it.

Hate to say it but if the GoPro 3 Black really has a 75% fail rate it's not even worth considering. At that rate I wouldn't be surprised if the company goes bust in a few month shouldn't they get that under control. Do you have a link or report to substantiate this claim.

Does anyone really believe ANY company would release ANY product to the market that has a 75% failure rate? Especially something as well marketed as GoPro.

We have had only 1 warranty claim for Gopro on other models. 75% ? Friggin' nonsense.

Mine is still working, Even after the dreaded firmware update. The GoPro app has also been updated to support the "black edition" and works a treat, makes setting the camera up a whole lot easier.....unless you like navigating your way through about 20 screens that is.

75% is a bit out there...I've heard of a few returned due to malfunction but as long as it's not mine I'm not concerned

....But it would suck big time I you got one and it was DOA

Based my 75% only on what a few salesman in different retailers said their return of sold units were.

Not very solid evidence I know. But even a 10% failure isn't good.
And consider that most are sitting under the Christmas tree, gift wrapped for another week.

ActionCam companies have come close/or gone bust a few times over the years. VHoldR changed it's name to Contour after the camera started falling apart (the first HeadCam with big marketing behind them). After 10hrs use they literally needed a heavy elastic-band around them so they would function, and WATER-DAMAGE was insane. 100% of VHoldR failed after "real" action use.
VIO went bust last year when 90% of their HD models stopped working (I bought 10 - they're all useless). VIO have just partnered up and will be back next year.

If history plays any weight it's perfectly viable that GoPro can go bust.
Like VHoldR they are set to re-market themselves as HERO - with luck, like Contour they will build a decent camera THAT WORKS, is priced accordingly with no grandiose claims.
VIO did that in the beginning but then built to be priced with Contour and GoPro.

A good ActionCam should cost near $1000.
Not because of consumer demand because of build quality.

Personally I don't want a toy. I want a camera that can survive what I can - Like POV.1
My POV1.5 have logged 100's of hours (surf, snow, dragged under Go-Kart 2km, dropped off 40' cliff, sea water inside housing) and still shoot strong. And with a universal shutter but it cost $1200.

And read "comments" A better indication of what consumers actually want not a reviewer judging purely on image quality.
