Don't really know about seasons but my primary goal every year is TOW - so far for 2011;

Positives - I've had 19 sessions out of 45 days. That's the best start to a year ever. Broken a few PB's for my local spot which has been a long time coming so all good this end.

Negatives - got skunked badly a couple of times and cut my thumb open on the tip of the fin.

Whats all the "season" talk, do you all stop for the winter ?
Admittedly evenings are out (save you sickes for the winter !)

My goal for the season was lose 10kg, which I met.
(and that was mainly just to get more use out of my smallboard)

A season for me is when there is 'sailable' wind (above 10-12 knots and not incredibly gusty or variable) which in my neck of the woods is usually from July or August to March when easterlies fade out, though in winter can be a hit and miss affair since winds are all over the place.

Gazman, Mmm yep I seem to have had a run of "events". Both boards have been victim of La Nina, all Melbournes rain and the crap that has ended up in the Bay.
I hit either a tree or a railway sleeper in the SSD, it's pretty well stuffed. The LM Large fell victim to another hunk of wood but is repairable.

Since Nov I have had the demise of the SSD, then the crash on the LM Lrge resulting in 2 broken ribs. A week before Xmas we get an "urgent" job at Holden and my 3 weeks leave gets cancelled. Xmas day my Labrador eats a River stone out of the garden bed which gets stuck in it's intestine. $2000 later Max is fine.
Then my Wife gets T boned at an intersection and the brand new Cruze is pretty much totalled. Kids in the car but luckily nobody hurt and it's a company car.
Then I finally get back on the water and hit another piece of crap on the LM large leaving the bottom cracked open. Oh and Spotty broke my big carbon boom in the LOC ruining his day.
It,s got to be all up from here!!!!

So back to the subject. The goal was to smash through 45 knots. Not met yet as I haven,t been to the PiT since November, but it will happen!!!!!

Geeez, what a horrible run. Just imagine your season has just started and go for it Martin!

Martin,
So how many Chinamen did you run over for that string of luck?

Been wondering that myself. Need to put it in perspective though, minor inconviences really compared to what other people have been enduring around the country.
Could do with some wind though!!!!

Crappy season? For the very few times I've been out in 13 months I have proved to myself that I can still sail albeit very very rusty. 20 friggin years is a long time to be away form any sport! So I'm pleased with my progress and confidence is building with every outing, still just need some TOW.

So far have recouped my waterstarts in most situations, into the straps & harness and very comfortable albeit some tweaks along the way, worked out how to tune my "modern" gear, planing at insane speed (to me anyway, need a GPS to really see how crazy) on long and short boards, carve gybes are elusive but slowly getting better.

Target before winter is re-enter the surf disregardless if I can carve gybe...I just want to ride waves (little 'uns). Do more than 10 runs without running out of puff. Carve gybe at speed. Chop hop again. Do any modern freestyle trick on the shortboard!

No I dont stop for winter . The ' season" is just when you get fun sails with nice consistent seabreezes..winter is too gusty to really enjoy , water is icey and wind strong enough to use is rarer..

One goal I achieved this season was to sail 7 days in a row.

Hands were a bit worse for wear though.

Other goals are still being worked on - like a forward in the waves...

Got the duckies and planings down....yet want more.

I've had a goal for some time to have the sails I use the most from the same brand/range. Organised my Xmas present, a new 5.9 KA Koyote to match the other two sizes (5.3 & 6.6). Also have a 4.5 Severne Blade but rarely gets used. Makes rig tuning much easier when sails have near identical settings and handling characteristics, also helps in getting to know your gear much better!

DAt's smart.
I've always tried to do that.
I've broken the rule for my new slalom sail, but that does not matter so much. All my newer wave sails match pretty much, still a have a few old brumbies in the smaller sizes, but never get to use them anyway.
