There's a subtle difference between mustache and nose hairs!

I reckon I could cultivate a ripper set of nose hairs so that you couldn't tell the diff!

(Not something I'm overly proud of!)

Just don't do what I sometimes do with my beard when it gets too long. --------

grab it along with the boom when you gybe, tends to sting a tad, and forces me to go look for the scissors when I get in.

I recently met a 79 year old windsurfer in a windsurfing clinic. He wasn't just windsurfing...he's taking lessons to improve his jibes. 79 years old and his goal is to increase performance!

I sail with a 60 year old guy who is a decent wavesailor.

Yeah had an almost 3 hour session yesterday, races with my best buddies and had my boom a little higher and guess what??? No screaming muscles. Still hit the sack at 7 pm though. Had a lot of fun and spent most of the time laughing. I LOVE that. Mind you......I do have this niggling pain in my leg - could have been from
a. the catapault when I faceplanted into the boom
b. when my fin got stuck on a rock and my front foot was stuck in the front strap so I did the splits - I know just imagine THAT.
c. when I ran out of water and body planted on the beach
Aaaah life, gotta love it.

Vigorous exercise is essential for producing extra testosterone which naturally diminshes from middleage, so no wimpy exericse........ must be VIGOROUS!!!

Testosterone makes it fall out I believe. No thats wrong. It makes it move around.

But yes TES-TOS-TERONE whooo hooo. You get of the water depleted to the point of insensibility but with an almighty testosterone rush. You can't feel anything but you're pretty much in love with the world. Its sort of like beer in that regard.

Don't think this means I'm too old, as much as too unfit.....

Heading for the home run after playing in some big chop & sloppy water, front leg gets an attack of the shakes, and loses all strength, struggling to waterstart, arms sore, battling to get into straps, not able to plane without getting pulled over the front.....whew...finally, made it back!!!

I gotta get fit!!!

Easy to see why fitness is more important than age!

So 79 is the record so far ...

If ws promotes testosterone and testosterone is life shortening there might just be a natural age when, like a sated antikinus, your old bod fails for good and you're fish food.

Not saying I'm anywhere near too old, but sailing yesterday had a bit of a 'coming-of-age....

During a great session, waterstarted to plane, hooked-in, slipped into straps, (it's just all to easy!), and notice that my vision was interrupted, shaking head noticed that my 'hair' was in my eyes and affecting my reading of the gusts and choppy water in front of me.....shaking head, flicking from side to side, trying not to lose balance (re-living my youth, tossing head around like a teenage surfing legend), when I remembered.........

ROFLMFAO, DUDE I CAN RELATE ALL TO WELL TO THAT.

Regards GT

......"hang on - I'm near BALD, and what's left is down to a No.1 clipper!!!"

Suddenly, the realisation hit me..........

The hair.........

.......was from my EYEBROWS!!!

There's alot to be said for spending a little more time in front of the mirror from time-to-time. Eyebrows, nostrils and ears are all on my 'to-do-list'....(not to mention shoulders!!!)

Trim-time....when I next get a chance!

That says it all for me, it is ALL about mental attitude, if you think you are too old then ..you are !!!!!!!! GO FOR IT BOYS , I say

Sounds like he was trying to infer, you are stupid or something. Little did he know he was revealing where his limitations truly are, --- in his head.

Bloody hell, I started when I was 50 sumfink and I never surfed a day in my life
Go hard til you drop!
I have a Father-inlaw who has reached 80+, his slant on such activity. "He would do it if only the body would handle issue".
There is a song about young guns in Newcastle NSW. "Never let a chance go by" I tend to follow that line

Nobody seems to have addressed the primary question here which was;
"HOW OLD IS TOO OLD?"
WHat you need is some sort of reliable indicator to let you know when you are too old to windsurf otherwise you could be sailing along one day and find you had died yesterday, and that's got to be embarrassing. Nothing worse than a corpse on the course to dampen everyones enthusiasm for the sport.
Anyway, after much study on the subject over many years I have arrived at the following conclusion.
I have noticed that as you get older and get less able to do things, the mind compensates by growing a bit dim and giving you the altered perception that you are actually getting better at things and that your body shape is improving. This is amply demonstrated by the fat old asses I see strutting down the beach in their budgie smugglers (aka CJs (cock jocks)) with their gut hanging over the CJs which they used to wear when they were 14 and kept in a cupboard for the "inevitable" day when they "got back in shape again". Only they never did get back in shape, their mind just went a bit saline and thought they did.
So if this sounds a little bit familiar to you then I think you can take it that YOU ARE NOW TOO OLD FOR WINDSURFING!!!!
For myself, my CJs are still safely in the bottom drawer so I'm obviously not too old for windsurfing. ( although I have tried them on a few times recently. Hmmmmm... Might be a bad sign.)

I've got carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands, crook ligaments in both knees, bad back, bad neck and rotator cuff problems in both shoulders so I can't do it any more.

But my heads as fit as a fiddle
