Chris is an exceptional sailor and his skills are evident in his board speed & control however I confident that he could sail any board FAST regardless of brand. IMHO tabou mantas are amongst a few boards on the market that are good open water boards that provide control and speed for the recreational sailor

Don't lose sight of the fact this board is to be used primarily on PPB, Northern end , why I asked the previous question. Steep messy waves that constantly try to launch you, nothing like open ocean conditions.
I have ridden a lot of boards and my experience is that full blown PWA Slalom boards do not suit, the only one I have ridden that handles the conditions was Spottys Mistral due to the amount of V it has. However I have ridden a few of the fast freerides or "detuned" slalom boards and I found the Tabou Rocket to suit the conditions very well. I have not ridden a Futura but have had a good look at one and feel it also would be suited.
A mere mortal cannot ride a full blown slalom board on the bay at anything like its top speed potential so really what is the point. You are better off on a board that has more V or concave, is technically not as fast but is way more comfortable and controllable in the arkward steep waves. You will be just as fast or faster and have way more fun.

More votes for Tabou. So Rocket over Manta?

there's a big difference in tabou 's manta over the years , 2012 71 has a lot more V in the bottom then 2013.
In my opinion the 2012 manta (i sailed 61-71 and 84) sits between a futura and iconic. 2013 have less v and more volume in the back.
