Seriously...weight jackets are really the domain of experts only, for all the reasons Kato has stated.

If you are struggling in over 20 knots, you don't need a weight jacket, you just need practice!

Tried weight vest sailing Lasers and they are rubbish they have water in them so if you capsize and your in the drink it doesnt effect your boyouncy . They just wreck you back its better to just crank the vang and sheet out .

I weigh 58 kgs and wouldnt suggest to use one . As above its just practice everything is going alot faster which means the board reacts faster and the sail has so much more power .

After reading that I don't think I'll bother.. I'm talking 30kts + with gusts to 40+ survival stuff..( flat water though these days)..

Eat more cake. I did and it has helped not only my sailboarding, but also my snow skiing.

One problem is TOW, most people seldom sail in 20+ knots so you don't get a chance to tune your gear & get comfortable with it.
I have noticed lately that fin size can be more critical than board size in higher winds, within reason.

Some people change down to a 4.7 & wave board as soon as it's over 15 knots

TOW + 1 ........ you tend to get used to the conditions that you sail in

The expression at Nobby's in the 90's used to be you were a 'girl's blouse' if you were a whimp..That didn't worry me as I was one.. Both a girl and a whimp after I almost drowned once...
I have a little book - ' surf sailing for whimps.." about how to survive and sail another day..

Or just use heavier gear ?

What's the advantage with light weight speed/slalom rigs ?. I've got a 2010 Code Red 6.5 sail, and people are always complaining how heavy it is compared to their rigs. Yet, I can hold down this sail up to 30 knots and I'm an under powered sailor.

I can understand this light weight design concept with free ride and wave sails.
