Many years ago I had a house at Thorneside and used to fish for sharks drifting between Manly Harbour and Wello Point / King Island.
I would hate to try to count the number of sharks we caught and the amount that got away by straightening hooks and breaking stainless traces.

The facts are that sharks dont really concider us as part of the food chain. If you get bitten its more bad luck than anything else.

S**t happens

that is a sharky stretch for sure. but no one has ever been taken. most of the local guys have seen big fins out near the island.

from the stories i am told i will never sail lota creek.

VP also has had lots of sigthings as well.

i just don't stand around in the water for too long just in case.

We used to salt flyfish and spin in Lota creek standing in waist deep water lol. Cant say I was ever worried about sharks.
It was more a case of trying not to stand on a ray.

I'll refrain from the shark stories.

To me it's a game of odds- you're blind and deaf...
- the bay is like walking around a 4wd park, the cars may or may not be there and hope they see you so they stop (have it in their heart not to run you over)
- Lota creek is like crossing a road
- Somewhere like the broadwater is like crossing the M1

Now off to the kite forum: Wello... sharks everywhere!!!
