I had actually inserted a paper towel into the bung hole last night and laid the board facing down. I only just checked it now. The paper towel is soaking wet, and there is a puddle on the floor. Seems to be working a treat.

The bad news is that it means there is a lot of water in there.
When I have left a bung screw out the most I have ended up with is a damp paper towel.
Anyway, the water is coming out. If possible, leave the board in a well ventilated place until the paper towel is completely dry.

You should be able to get 99% of the water out, and don't worry about the amount...I used to sit it in the sun (on mild days) with the wick & turned it upside-down every hour or so & water 'poured' out of it. If you keep taking the screw out of it & wicking it when not in use it shouldn't take long to get most of the water out.

Also, when wicked in a warm place I would've thought to leave the board facing up would be better to get the water out? Upside-down seems not right when moisture will generally rise? (not sure of this but I'm sure someone here knows the answer...

Attached my newly developed vaccuum system and promptly got a further 2 teaspoons out, to add to the 4 teaspoons that came out via the paper towel the previous night.

I'm hopeful that I got the bulk out, and that a few warm days of paper towelling will finish the job.
