My fitout was perfect when it was finished, now I'm carrying lots of gear on the bed as well. Oh well, I guess that happens with any layout as you just accumulate more stuff.

The bed is a series of high grade marine squabs, they will drain through and not get mouldy plus can be thoroughly washed with fresh water. Together the squabs create the size of a queen size bed so all the bed sheets etc... are easy to get and fit. Also got Velcro fly screens for the doors for the fly/insect heavy days and nights. The roof and sides are all heavily insulated and painted black inside. Not only helps with the temp, it really keeps the noise down at night and it's dark for long sleep ins. Anecdotally discovered flys don't really like going into darker spaces!

On longer trips I use thee roof box for all my sails, masts booms and wet gear. Helps keep the van clean and dry for sleeping. Any internal rack system would impede on my fly-less, day lounging experiences watching whales, reading and drinking breakfast beers ;-)

here s a LWB .pic we hire for trips up north ,10 -11 ,windsurfing boards 3 Sups .16 sails I think .8 x booms .could maybe fit a little bit more on top .

II swapped from a trailer to a van . I wanted enough length for masts so this means over 3m straight away then room for fridge and water tanks.
I also wanted towing for a caravan so only van was an Iveco for me but have tried a few different vans.
happy with the set up I did it myself, now hopefully some wind and time to sail .

Hatchback with folding rear seats.
Tilt down front seat then you can slide a 105 upside down on top. Formula board may have to go on the roof.

I don't use board bags, but have a full size rubber mat on the floor of the van.

I sealed mine with a 2 pack epoxy paint used in the building game. Then built an insulated floor over the top and sealed in with a waterproof membrane. No water is going anywhere in my van.. hopefully
