The word "kit" sounds wanky and Pommy to me because it reminds me of when I first heard it used in Boards Magazine yonks ago.

Right on! I also like to call it "equipment" sometimes...not sure why. Makes it sound a bt more important, maybe. Not that there are many things in this world as important as windsurfing stuff, mind you..
(most of my Singaporean friends say "gears" or "equipents", which still to this day makes me cringe...even worse, some refer to their windsurfing "stuffs"...and this is an English-speaking country! Ouch!)
