Hi Guys,

Typical mines better than yours argument, blah blah blah. Having done both and enjoyed both, I have no opinion either way, both are really fun.

Go and have a lesson of each and make your own mind up.

Good winds,

Boris

Thanks for that fence-sitting effort.
You must be a kiter.

Gees Boris,

with my name being Kitehard, you must be a Rocket Scientist.

Good winds to both camps,

Started windsurfing in '77 (back when Robbie Naish had just become a teenage world champion) and was addicted for a couple of decades. Now I can't be bothered unless the waves are huge. After several years kiting I can't be bothered unless the water is flat as a pancake. A real thrill? Try cancer cell biology. With a decent microscope (and a couple other tools of the trade) you can travel through the nearly unimaginable universe of a human cell, and learn what makes some survive and others die.

"with my name being Kitehard, you must be a Rocket Scientist."

Ahh, I thought it meant that you find kiting to be hard.

FYI: I am a rocket scientist. Waiting on job offers from Iran and North Korea. Anyone know what the wind is like over there?

Crem,

Yours is the best answer here and without a doubt the most balanced. I have many friends that enjoy both sports and most return to around the 80 ws/20ks ratios you refer to after the initial thrill of kitesurfing wears out. My friend from Binningup will take his kite when shallow flat water is on hand but prefers his windsurfer on the open ocean. I see no reason not to take up either sport if you have the resources and somewhere to sail.

Cheers,

Bob Dunlop
