I use ART mechanical/knuckle for racing gear and bogee for wave gear, I never liked the knuckle joints in the past but I love this one. Before I got the ART one I had NP tendon which I got maybe 18 months at best out of before it stripped the threads on top bolt and the tendon started to split around grub screw holes. The NP black ones I feel are not as stiff as the orange tendons but I still hated jumping them.
10 years out of a tendon you are looking for accident to happen, NP recommend theirs are replaced every year and I believe them. Also if you use brass T pieces replace them every year also, unless you using chinook double bolt the T piece threading is alot worse than a UJ breaking.
I broke a NP base where the thread meets the pin and the second one I was given now has a small bend in the same spot, Personally I think the steel supplier has had a dodgy batch come through and NP has managed unfortunatly to aquire some of that steel, I need to get a third one now, my shop has been very good about this, says very unusual that the bolt snaps. The first uj I purchsased was so bent that it would not even allow the mast base XT slide into it. That was also replace no qs asked.
yeah I snapped mine a while ago and it was just held on by the rope...
the nice choppy conditions of the day helped bounce the mast base repeatedly into the deck, causing a lovely patch of dings on the board the first time I ever used it
jeez Jesus....wouldn't you be if you fell from heaven and your wings didnt work....he didnt ask to be given the prototype wings...thats a bit like trying the new Neil Pryde prototype lightweight tissue wave sails just developed.
