now one has answered my question yet , tell me what you think what is faster
I'm new to the speed game, at the moment I'm modifying an old low wind wave board of my own, cut it down from about 8' 10" to 7' 10" loped a few inches off the rails and straightened the rocker up so it's dead straight from just over a meter with very slight V. No idea how it will go, hope it's fast.
I would say straighter rocker, then stiffness, then weight in the order of the effect it has on speed over 20knots. Weight and stiffness wise there are still some polyester and plastic boards around which go like rockets.
looks like were on the wave length decrepit, let me know how your board go's, the last 2 seasons we had 30knt n/easters at the end of aug so it wont be long i hope
Keef this is what I reckon. You should go like a bat out of hell! and earlier planing. If you narrowed the tail for less wetted area you'd go faster, not sure what you did with the vee. I think if the carbon went just past the mast track then that should stiffen the board up so minimal energy coming from sail would be lost. Not sure on your fin and set up, but bolt through box and fin would be good. Gybes will be drawn out no more tight turns on the wave face, just big fast drawn out turns in front of the wave, making it hard to be where you want to be on the wave.
i hope your rite about the speed juice, the board was my high wind flat water ive had it out in 40knts+, the sringers were 12mm cledgacell laminated with 3oz carbon and micro balloons, i used 5 of them, that made 6 stringers 60mm deep,60mm,wide and 750 long and believe me that was one solid stringer and weighed next to nothing, yes it went from the front of fin to the front of mast base
the way i measured the v was on one side that from tail to 600 12mm the goes to 6mm at 1.8 and flat from there on allso it has a small bouble concave from nose to tail i glue'd some 1200 grit to an old fin its only slight about a mm
wait let me get this straight. breather and protector material is to expensive but your using 3 ounce carbon! last time i checked 3 ounce carbon plain weave is 120 bucks a meter2
