GOOD one gesalt the thread goes to sh1t right from the start. i was actually intersted in the moves people are doing.

also that would be one of the worst moves you could do as a windsurfer.

unless it was to north queensland, only for the winter, and you had a boat to go to the outer reef with.

In surfers tongue they are called re-entry's or reo's.
I just wanna set myself up for some DTL action with heaps of bottom turns and lip smacking tail slides

Attempting to sail backwinded... and in the words of Peter Hart:

"... Getting decked every time"

Oh you mean moves that you can do

Yeah, I was. Missed out on what looked like a ripper NE yesterday (according to the graphs anyway), and have this arvo free and there's nothing on offer. Still, my wife came away with a 15th place in Canberra triathlon, so at least one of us is happy.

Curac, ya lost me. Is that a dummy spit?

Just to get back to the topic (something to do with trees that do things that they are biologically incapable of...?). My repertoire of tricks is vanishingly slender - duck gybe, helitacks (50%), I did get a planing push tack once, fin first sailing .... fk all really but it leaves me ample scope for improvement. That's why windsurfing is a sport for a lifetime...so much to look forward to - the life is short the sport so long to learn...

I've only managed to get out in 12-15 knots lately. (And that's the gusts!). There's been some good days, but I keep missing them. I prefer a steady 15-18 to take the small board out.

From Back to the Future:

Biff: "Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?"
Marty: "It's Leaf! Make like a tree and leaf, you idiot!"

(Or words to that effect)

Elmo will probably be able to quote it verbatim

Curac I think I was sailing with you one day at wello and you were doing flat water forwards, if it was you I reckon these were far more impressive than back loops (it wasn't haircut).

mkseven - i've forgotten the persons name, but theres a young guy possibly in his late 20s who rides a 2003 fanatic goya and so does his girlfriend (they have almost identical his-and-her setups) and he has slightly curly light brown/blondish hair? sometimes wears a floppy bucket hat. could this be who u r thinking of? He's often there during the howling winter westerlies

about 3 years back there were a young french couple sailing at wello during one big westerly and they came tearing towards me in the oposite direction, as the boyfriend got close he pulled a loop which at that time i thought was really impressive, then as his girlfriend approached me behind him, she pulled one too which was even more impressive. after that i thought, holy crap!? i felt ashamed of my miniscule chop hop, gybe and duckgybe reportuire of the time and knew it was time for epanding the bag of maneuvers

apparently my trick is to be able to sail my 7.5 Gaastra GTR in 20 - 25knots! I was out at Kyeemagh on Saturday and no offence Sheartip, but if you think that was a solid 20 with 25 knot gusts then there was some weird stuff going on cause I was sailing with 2 mates who both had 9.5's up! Unfortunately I don't think the Sydney Airport graphs have been too accurate of late. I'd love to know where the windmeter actually is that gives those readings. Was it those readings that you were referring to or was it your gut thoughts on the strength? I'm curious to know who else was out and how strong they thought it was too. I didn't leave the bay until 7:30 either in case it came through stronger after that.
