Don't get me wrong - I love Windsurfing - but I recon I'd be happy doing both.
That's a very slippery slope you're messing with.
Everybody that windsurfs that tries kiting says, "I'll do both. I'll kite when it's light and windsurf when it's strong. It'll be great."
I got my first kite and before I realised it 11 months had gone by. I dragged out the sailboard and had a lovely session on it. It was fun. Another 11 months went by and all the sailboarding gear went into the Trading Post.
The various benefits of both disciplines aside, there's no way windsurfing can compete with the compactness and convenience and versatility of a kite and a single small board. I can fit 3 kites and 2 boards in the boot of my car giving a wind range of 10-12 to 40-50 knots. A single kite and board can be fine for 10-25 or 15-30 knots.
