Susie, Susie, Susie.....as you may know by now I did not sail today, but instead took said 5yo daughter to a tea party (who has tea parties at 2pm on a sunday?) it was super.....we took some blowing bubbles....I then left the tea party to hang out with the bogans at marion, bought a runnning top, some socks, and a subway sandwich.....mean while Kym (wifey) was planing across Goolwa lake, said she nailed all but one gybes, winds meant she has two sessions today, one NW at 25 knots, then a break, where she might have had a salmon baguette and a latte at Aqua Cafe, then back in the water for a SW session for an hour, 4.4 on the 266 Flow.....who says I am not a good guy? Aint love grand!?

Mate, an old saying from the bush. Usually meant for blokes who are bit of an all round fulla, can jump in and give a hand when the going gets rough.
The saying or the bits of it I cant quite remember. Went something like this referring too a gun stock man.
Whip cracker, horse rider, bronc buster, cow brander, roper, and blah blah, but always ended up with "and a bloody good windmill man" referring to the bit he or she could try hand at most things and master it after a short stint.
Others may have differant slant on it, but you get the drift

probably timely i read this thread with only 5 days and counting.....

my test back when i was a young buck was asking my potential girlfriends if they didn't mind climbing across from the drivers side cause there was too much gear in the car.

I think we are all addicted. I had a great sail yesterday so got my wind, salt, speed fix and am contentedly working. Until the withdrawals start.

I've had to "let go" 3 awesome girlfriends in 2 years because of windsurfing. All were intelligent, fun, good looking (especially the last one - yowee!), and 2 of them were 10 years younger than me (not that age matters if the chemistry is there) ... I found I just couldn't handle giving up one day of my weekend, or finding the energy to take them out somewhere nice after an afternoon of sailing ... or cutting short an afternoon of drinking at the beach with the windsurfing crowd ... and besides, they never talked about wind conditions or windsurfing gear or anything else of interest. And then I realised...I'm married to windsurfing!!!! Problem solved!! Well, except for a few minor details...

No - that's top of the list of things a windsurfer should NEVER try to do.. Trying to train your wife or girlfriend is like trying to give yourself a circumcision..

There's going to be a lot of yelling, a fair bit of pain, and you won't be using your willy for anything wet for quite a while.

BUT.. that said, if the girls are as good looking, intelligent and fun as he makes out, and they're 10 years younger than he is, I'm sure we can find a volunteer to teach them on his behalf..

Especially if he's already married to windsurfing!

I had a girlfriend who was into sailing as much, if not more than I. She would wake me up and say "get up, it's windy", THAT'S MY LINE!
I loved her but it was never going to work, she was into flat water. I guess we were just two totally different people.

I couldn't afford the airfare, and besides living 20 minutes from some of the best wave sailing in australasia, I'm already married to one of those rare girls that will wake me up at 7:30 on the weekend because it's windy, and she thinks I might want to go for a sail..

Jord would be in with a grin though - he probably needs someone to take to the school dance!
