After years of doing just a vulcan here, vulcan there I thought $@#@ it this season i'm nailing them. Went hard at it right from the beginning of this and now have them pretty consistent....on one tack. So my aim is vulcans on the other tack and then shakas and flakas. A big floaty shaka is I reckon one of the coolest tricks around....but holy moly I reckon i'm going to go through some sails/gear trying to get them If my first few attempts are anything to go buy.
Nailed a vulcan last weekend at Sandy (I was soooo close for soooo looooong)... now aiming for Spocks and Flakas (think the Spock might happen way before the Flaka)...
At the stage of attempting flat water backloops almost there. About three quarters. i agree with CJW, shakas and shovits are sick tricks attempting and failing them also.
Bigger more floaty chop jumps, consistent duck jibes and vulcans which i think will probably take forever to master, can pop the board out in flat water so it's a start.
Forwards - i can do it without the board no problems its just when im in the estuary and i do a big enough jump to do it i think im too close to the water and i will hit my mast or something, and to jump in the estuary i need to point upwind which is bad im told.
then when im in the waves i do big enough jumps to clear my mast and i think uh oh im too high i dont wanna get hurt
That and goin over 35kts would be good im only 1.6kts away...
On flatwater: duck tacks and donkey jibes (essex duck) In the waves: better bottom turns and cutbacks In chop: getting up the nerve to throw a loop nonplaning: anklebiters
Got a new one I was working on today...it's called 'grind your board full speed over ****loads of coral when you think the tide is high enough', the other one happens at the same time 'smash hell out of your new MFC fin'. Come to think of it, maybe I shouldn't keep practising those ones. But seriously, trying to plane out everytime. Get my port tack gybes happening & get as much air as possible.
learning to see without my glasses so I can go out on water and try to sail one of these sailboard things
Prescription sports glasses (with proper neck band), that's the trick Well you see the basketballers wearing them, so they'd be okay I reckon
I tought a mate with normal glasses, he put on his older/cheaper glasses, and that band thing connecting to the ear bits, and was fine, didn't lose em or break em
