Nebbsy informed me that people are asking for 2 teams to be consolidated into one and individuals wanting to swap teams, so put your requests here so this can be done in one go.

2 vic teams are consolidating, there was talk of 2 SA teams consolidating (do you guys still want that?) What about you QLD guys? NSW? WA?

Man Mob is losing a key member to the dreaded Pinna's (Wait till I see you Miner's.. I got you sussed now, behind that friendly kind exterior lies a )

Man Mob is losing a key member

Dont tell me there is a underlying struggle for power going on

or could there be internal bickering between members

possibly even an internal backlash due to the fact that a certain member is no longer carrying his weight, due to WORK committments

seems that the dreaded Pinnas spend more time sailing in Mandurah than some of the ManMob anyway

Good 'ol Nebbsy, he's been in more teams than I have had hot dinners ... continually striving for the top (and why shouldn't you)

How long before he defects to the SRM??????

(PS: all above said in fun)

You would have to ask a sensible question?

Hadn't thought of that at all??

Yes we can't let it affect that or it wrecks the comp!!

The Pittwater Punters (NSW) are struggling with only two members on the water so we'd be happy to absorb people, maybe some of the Sandy Point guys want to be associated with Sydney?

Come on you know you want to....

This is the reason I didn't do it when the team requested it. What's the most sensible thing to do? At the moment if I move everyone from Team A into Team B then their speeds from earlier on in the year don't count towards their score. But their speeds from the current month (and possibly the previous month) will count.

It's not fair on other teams if scores for the entire year count, and Team A and Team B combine right at the end of the year -- conceivably if they are ranked 4th and 5th they could combine and get into 1st place.

Like I said to Hardie, I'm going to have to do some database changes before going much further to make it easier to calculate everything. Unfortunately right now I'm super super stretched thin

Yes agree that it shoulnt effect rankings not sure how ya do this.
You would have to pick the team that is ranked higher, the lower ranked team would be del. then change the higher ranked teams name to the new one and add the names from the del team or something like that.
Maybe you dont even have to del the old team just add there names to the new team.

mmm did ya get all that haha.

In the case of the SA teams it is not an issue as 1 team has not posted most months and they will simply move to the team which posts every month.

The 2 SA teams sail most big days together at Goolwa and combining will give the guys from the smaller team incentive to post every sesh(which is what the concept is all about). The bigger team only have 5 members because of the original concept proposed of averages being based on all of the members who post a session, not just the top 2.
I asked the question(emailed GTC) about merging last month but had no reply...is this because I don't wear the captains jersey?

Not sure why, but Nebbs is trying to work out how to do it without wrecking all the data. Be patient, as usual with my enthusiasm, I posted this too early

Sounds like alot of work guys?
Being only 3 months to the end of the year....why not leave teams as is till then and start the 2009 sessions with the adjusted teams. Gotta be easier than points averaging / swapping etc mid year.

Hi Nebs,

You guys have developed a great site and I don't mean to sound un-appreciative.

All masterpieces take time.

The merger was to primarily increase participation and increase the mateship factor, we are all reasonably similar in speed.

Keep up the good work.

BTW - are there any more T's available?

i think if a team joins another team they still should be in the same state because i thought this was a state verse state type thing or if some one moves to another team still should be in same state unless they move house

Yeah us Gybe Turkeys also struggle to get many posts unfortunatley. It might be worth joining the 4 SA teams into 2 or 3 maybe??? Not sure how exactly to do it and who would go where though if we all did decide to. Hopefully things will change when warm weather comes and for me and the old man, the school holidays lol. Maybe some wind could help things out a bit too lol.

Cheers

If it can't be worked out technically for this year, then maybe, team consolidations need to be worked out to start as of 01/01/09.

Maybe we could have a draft at the end of the season. With a speed cap. Not allowed to exceed a total of 250 knots max speed total?

I'd be much happier with that solution

Of course if someone wants to change teams and leave both teams still active, then that is very possible...

Talking about next year, I had a thought about evening out the slowy advantage a bit.
(Somebody from the pitcrew mentioned, they'd suggested the NM to even out the SP advantage, then Slowy comes over and goes faster than them anyway, not to mention his trips to overseas speed strips)

Change the "post from anywhere" rule, to "post from anywhere within your own state".

I'm not sure if it's the right way to go or not, (Slowy's big out of state speeds needs a back up, so doesn't always have much affect), so thought I'd mention it and see what everybody else thinks.

OK for Nebs, it wouldn't need any software changes.
And it is a state based challenge,

Shouldn't affect most teams, except maybe the underprivileged wind states, that may want to travel to other states for better wind.
NSW and the ACT would miss out on posting a Sandy Point /Green Island session.

And any out of state session wouldn't be on this data base, don't know about anybody else, but I'm not much good at keeping records, this site is great for that.
