Crash, just be aware of the real hollow gusty area off Shoal Bay Beach like I said. If you're going to try and sail across best off to park your car on the dirt rd at the northern end of the beach and rig there. That way it limits the hole you have to try and sail through. Be aware at tide change there is a HUGE amount of water turbulence and the current can tend to run super fast so timing will be everything. It makes for some pretty steep chop in the middle of the Bay too so you'll love that. Keep an eye out for the sand banks which make some nice little ramps to launch off also.

I sail over to Shoal Bay from Hawknest quite often. As long as you got a good NE'r it's no problem. At the moment it's looking huge for Friday and Sunday, fingers crossed.

Ill have it with me but whether I can download is another story. I will make a concerted effort to pull my finger out and do it.
Sunday looks good for some long runs from the spit down towards the beach and some decent speeds.

Crash, we have a mate who sails over from Nelson Bay side and he just said keep an eye out on the tides as it can be a quick trip out the heads if anything goes wrong. He usually does it in 2 tacks.

No wind at Port Stephens - although there was some wind for about 50 metres off the Shoal Bay beach and nothing anywhere else. I think i saw someone windsurfing over the other side though.

Anything in Sydney? Where's the NE'rs?!

Nothing in Sydney either. Sunday was completely different to the forecast 15kts NE. Quite a big crew at Kyeemagh were sitting around waiting for wind watching the UNSW windsurfing club rig. When the wind came it was NW.

I was very surprised when they let a few beginners have a go. Not a good idea in an offshore wind. A jetski had to tow one of the girls in. If it had been a guy on that board im sure they would have let him drift to Kurnell...
