More time on water with kiteboarding, what a load of crap. Look at something bigger than a 6.2, for sure the focus of your windsurfing changes though. It is rare that kites are on the water before windsurfers here, it's pretty even and no they are not getting 'nHUGE air either. Light wind kiting is just the same as windsurfing- bafing is it.

Or keep a 6.2 and get a kona or something and go wavesailing/old school freestyle in the light stuff.

Plenty of options mate don't write off windsurfing just yet, admittedly money & space is always an issue. But kite gear costs a bit too.

To each their own though, if you want to try something different for sure kite- as an excuse that you arent sailing on light days is wrong. Plenty of other stuff in the world to do on no wind days.

EDIT* Often there are northerlies here and I guess offshore wind in other locations where the wind doesn't drop to water level but the kites can quite happily be going. Doesn't happen very often, frustrating when it does.

Your gear is a bargain, i first saw it and thought wtf are you doing but it's also good to get rid of all your gear at times and get some nice new stuff. It's also good to take a break from windsurfing at times- lets you put life into perspective and come back fresh.

Right now surfing and mountain biking will fill in my time with no worries at all.

^ South Straddie is probably the most consistent break on the coast. The A-frames there can be magic. Seriously, it's the bomb. Just take a note of which way the tide is going, of course.

This would be interesting if you started kiting. Wouldn't mind seeing some more objective feedback. It's all good. I'd still love a catamaran for those 10-15kt summer days.

Also: I can't believe I bought two new Alphas not a week ago. Damnit. Still, I've consoled myself with the fact that I got exactly what I wanted, for once, and should last me years.
