Hi Premo,
I think that's a sensible precaution.
I think it's worth updating windsurfing WA webpage as when I just checked there was nothing on it about the cancellation.
cheers for now
jonah.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

We are set to run the comp on Sunday 21/02/2021.

The skippers briefing will be at 11:00am
First Heats will hopefully be from 12:00pm

As the forecast is for some large waves with a long swell period (heavy waves), there is a chance that we may not run some fleets, unless the swell drops in the afternoon (this is all based on the forecast and the safety of competitors).

Ultimately it will be a final call to be made on the day depending on conditions.

Fleets that may not run are:
Juniors,
Weekend Warriors,

However if you are a Weekend Warrior, and are comfortable sailing in potentially MAST AND A HALF+ waves then, you are welcome to move into the Open fleet.

Refunds are available for those who's fleet may not sail or those who choose not to sail.

Remember to register for the event at www.windsurfingwa.org.au/events/71557/

I look forward to seeing all you chargers on the day.

Greetings people,

The 2021 Maggot Creek Wave Sailing Classic went off!!!
A solid mast and a half on the sets swell and lovely cross off winds allowed for all the challenge themselves and have a great time doing it.

The winners are:

Open
1st Scott Mckercher
2nd Simon Peters
3rd Bastien Escofet

Armatures
1st Jonah Desforges
2nd Peter Kenyon
3rd Paul Lane

Ladies
1st Karin Jaggi
2nd Jane Seman
3rd Maeli Cherel

Weekend Warriors
1st Sam Burnett
2nd Ilya Panagushin

Youth
1st Ollie Desforges
2nd Kai Morris
3rd Camillo Pillonel

A few high lights were Rick Vandertoorn being the first one on the water and putting on a master class of how to charge some serious mast and a half size waves, putting him self in some critical sections with some hectic carves in the pocket.

Karin Jaggi managed to find an absolute bomb in the ladies final, and rode it to perfection, getting multiple turns right in the zone, showing us all why she has been world champion here and there in her life.

Paul (lay down) Lane, showed us all his classic style, utilizing the stylish lay down bottom turn which saw him through to 3rd place in the AM division.

And a big stand out for me was the Youth Fleet, after a day of judging and frothing around they finally got their chance to terrorize the line up, we did hold off till later in the day in the hope the swell would drop a bit, but I'm not sure it did. They got out there and charged.
If those "youth" can sail out there in that size swell, I think next year they go straight to the Opens division.

Thanks to everyone who entered and all those who Volunteered and helped out on the day.

Particular thanks to Phil Cutter for doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes
Paul Jackman and Patrik Diethelm for helping to wrangle in the mayhem which is the judges tent.
Scott Mckercher for being head judge (even though he kept having to disappear for his heats)
All the Kids who helped with the flags, timing and judging. you were a big help.
And everyone that stayed and helped pack down at the end of the day.

Also a big thanks to Starzia from South South West www.southxsouthwest.com/ for sponsoring the Women's Division with $300 prize money and helping out so much on the day.

Severne Sails for sponsoring the Youth division with an assortment of swag.

Jonah and Pete

Kai, Ollie, Camillo

Starzia, Karin, Jane

Rick Vandertoorn (i think)

Amazing job Mark. It's brilliant you've taken the time and effort to drive down to Margies, film and then do the edit so quickly.
The action speaks for itself, but it's so cool to see it again (and again!!).
Great job and many thanks from us all.
Jonah.
PS thanks also to JJ for the lend of the camera gear!
