That's super minimalist. Stressed me out thinking about it haha.

Lark's head is technically effective, though I always use this

This is the way.

Usually the leash has a loop just big enough to pull your wrist cuff through and you can skip the extension loop...

Specially for those who already distrusted the larks head:

Look at the comments on that video - at least 2 or 3 incidents of lost wings with that system. As far as getting the larger stopper balls, there's also a MacKiteboarding video on YT promoting those, and again there are a few comments of lost wings with that system. I'm new to this sport and don't feel that the larkshead connection is foolproof.

Yep, not foolproof.

That may or may not be a problem.

I use the stopper ball for my wing leash>harness connection (using a low friction ring on a behind the back slider line). Haven't ever had any issues whatsoever. That said, I would be wary of the connection without the stopper ball.

Definitely not fool proof but very convenient. Key step is to preload the knot with a solid pull. I was in a hurry once and just slapped it on and it slipped off launching. Haven't had a problem since

The reason people are losing their wings is because this particular leash doesn't use a larkshead connection.
The earlier version of Howard's leash did. I used that version for a couple of years and never had it come loose.
I quit using it recently because it's even a bit too fiddlie to remove.

Last "lost wing" I rescued still had the leash attached (using a larks head). wrist cuff came loose

Ive been using larks heads to connect my wing and board leashes for 2 years, never had a failure.Ive had other parts of leashes fail, as i mess around with different parawing board leash types (no expanding coils), but never the larks head. Also never had a larks head fail with 10 years of kiting, very solid connection IMO
