I kinda feel like the Carver gets more push from swell with the chopped tail and then an aggressive pump pops it up. Pilot Mid is better at generating board speed and gliding up onto foil. I prefer the Pilot Mid for that reason.

more a function of the 6 inches extra length than the tail angle yeah?
hoping to try a 6’0 85L Coaster against my 5’10” 85L Carver soon, see how much the evolved bottom shape helps with takeoff

I agree.


I’ll be interested in hearing if the extra width on the coaster is noticeable or not.


I need to try the 70l Hydrocraft gunboat. 6’4”x19” Nearly the same dims as my pilot mid but with a more rockered bottom. I’m very curious to see the takeoff difference on small foils at that length.
