Slightly off topic, but I thought I'd let everyone know an interesting thing that happened to the girl & I yesterday.
We set up at the Currumbin Alley & launched with intention of kiting the front wave break & Laceys.
After we both launched we were approached by the head lifeguard & advised that, & I quote; "kiting is banned from the rock wall south, including setting up & launching".
I advised him that the SEKSC had negotiated with the marine/transport department & had agreed that we would not kite in the estuary.
He informed me that he had a meeting with the transport department & I quote; "that although he recognised that most of us were responsible & not kiting in the estuary when it was crowded that they had received numerous complaints about a kid jumping/hitting & generally scaring people"
The lifeguards & transport department had a meeting last Wednesday to review these latest complaints & have elected to implement a complete ban on kiting including rigging & launching at the Currumbin Alley.
When I asked him if you could still ride the front break, he informed me that it was a total ban from the rock wall to the flags at elephant rock / Currumbin Surf Club. So that includes front beach.
He thought that we had all been made aware of this.
Apparently signs are to be posted in the next month (probably next to/under the one that says NO SWIMMING)
