Weather Situation for Queensland Gulf of Carpentaria
A weak pressure gradient will persist over the Gulf waters for the next several days. A high moving into the Tasman Sea from Monday and extend a weak ridge over the Gulf Waters from Tuesday.
Weather Situation for North Queensland
A weak ridge will persist over the north Queensland waters for several days. The ridge will strengthen slightly from Monday as a high moves into the Tasman Sea. A tropical low [1005 hPa] near the Solomon Islands will move west on Monday and has a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the far northeastern Coral Sea from Tuesday. This low is forecast to drift south during the latter part of this week with further development likely, but remain well east of the Queensland coast with no direct impacts expected.

A trough near the southeast coast will start to move northward over the South Queensland waters from Monday. reaching the Capricornia waters later in the day or early on Tuesday. A high will move into the Tasman Sea on Monday, extending a new ridge over the south Queensland waters in the wake of the trough along with moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.
