This radar is located Perth Airport at a former wind-finding radar site, which is not an optimal location for weather watch operations. The radar beam is significantly obstructed to the north due to tall trees, and so rainfall may be underestimated or disappear completely where the beam is completely blocked north of the radar. Coverage to the east is impacted by Darling Scarp and rainfall may be underestimated on the eastern side of the range. Coverage to the south and west is generally reasonable with the exception of local obstructions due to nearby structures such as the airport control tower. <a
