Maliko has been EPIC the last couple of days and WindGuru is looking good all week. Only wished the swell was more East for the Downwind-Foil KOOK in me. I have been getting some Great BUMPS on Maliko BUT I’m going SO FAST as in TOO FAST on my AXIS Foil “I love my AXIS wings; and now that I have the AXIS PRO Ultra High Modulus Carbon 720” there’s NO going back I’m AXIS for life now (it’s a good thing going super fast) BUT I get Out Of Control like a Bucking Bronco goto learn how to slow down without touching down on foil it’s only DAY 60 for me on my Downwind-Foil Journey, Kihei is so much easier for the Beginner KOOK like me., I love Kihei BUT the place is fickle. Also I’d like to thank Dave Kalama for making the GATOR they are so stable & very forgiving

As Mark Raaphorst is to shaping unlimited 18ft SIC SUP’s and Sam Egan is to shaping a Surfboard, Dave Kalama’s GATOR is King for when it comes to Downwind foil boards = it’s just my opinion & I’m very an#l when it come to riding boards in the ocean, as a surfer you’ll know within 3 waves if you have a good surfboard or not. The saddest thing is Sam Egan has just retired Sam turns 84 years old in a few months, Ill be catching up with Sam Egan in September when I go home to Newcastle for a week.

I have not foiled much since Maui last year in July 2025.

How GOOD has Life Been “The WAVES” on the Gold Coast, has just been PUMPING "like on Tap" for like 7 months already since December.Like it was Ground Hog Day even that sandbank at Currumbin Alley was Ruler Edge, the lower the tide the more High Performance the wave became there was PRO Surfers on it everyday.

To ME Surfing is the Number ONE Sport “YES” this is a Downwind Foil Forum Which I ENJOY as a Second or Third Sport - I do get OFF on watching guys like Mr Bennetts Prone Foiling the Guy RIPS. Or any of the Top Downwind Foilers like Jeremy Riggs = Jeremy is the Ultimate Gentlemen, Dave Kalama the GATOR inventor, kai Lenny, Joshua Ku & James Casey those Guys are just So GOOD. They all make Downwind Foiling look Effortless.

I’m stoked that Burleigh Heads & Currumbin Alley is Blown Out so I can Watch the World Surf League WSL at SNAPPER ROCKS it’s Just PUMPING. Watching the World’s Best is so entertaining as Russell Crowe Quote from the Movie Gladiator ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED. The Commentary is just So Good it Just Gets BETTER & BETTER Every Year.
As most Aussies are hardcore Footy followers or Cricket followers; just ask my Hawaiian/American friends or any American for that matter Cricket “NO CAN” me too it’s such a g#y sport.
Me; I love watching The World Surf League WSL Big Wave WSL Qualifying Series I can watch it All Day.
If you haven't seen it yet, if Your A Surfer you've got to watch Round 3 Heat 7 Gabriel Madina V Filipa Toledo & then Round 3 Heat 8 Samuel Pupo V Miguel Pupo = Both Mind Blowing Heats.

A bit of History of Snapper Rocks:-
I've Surfed Snapper as Good as it Gets in the early 2000's you could get 3 x 10 second Barrels on the One Wave; it be that Hollow as long as you got the Wave First no-one could Drop in on you, as it was Too Hollow & Too Fast "FUN TIMES" my last Great Barrel Session at Snapper was in 2019 Snapper was So PUMPING you could get TWO BIG Barrels on the One Wave all the way into Greenmount. Then run around & do it all againI" I got back on the twin-fins in 2019" haven't rode a Thruster since. ( I still have like 1/2 dozen Sam Egan thrusters, just gathering dust they have No Wax on then yet) AND Yes Snapper is So Crowded you need the Sweep to keep the Crowd at Bay.

Good Friday 2020 there was only a Dozen of us out it was 4ft PUMPING Snapper - All I Can Say Is Thank You Covid 19. I surfed for 4 hours till the tide got too low.

At 64yo my Body in the Hips is a Shot Duck it doesn’t happen over time it happens over night!!! If you are watching this video. Can you get off the floor in a cross legged siting position, then stand up with no hands? Since June 2025 I've been working on my Hip-Flexers (from the age old story; thanks to getting old) I can see the Wave BUT I can't get to my Feet.

So I've been doing a lot of mobility Hip-Flexer moves (YES I'm getting faster at getting to my feet on my Surfboard)
Since like Christmas 2025, I've been sitting cross legged on the floor while watch say the NEWS on TV after like 5 minutes my hips were in so much pain. "My Hips were Crying Out PLEASE Straighten Your Legs; OH the Pain fu#k it was hurting" it's now June 6 months later, I can sit cross legged now for 30 minutes, with no pain "STOKED" it's a daily exercise I have to do about 3 time a day.
The last 2 years I'd be hurting on my 12ft Prone Paddleboard just after 50 Paddle Strokes on my Knees - Now I am back too 100 Paddle Stokes on my Knees Pain FREE - if no Waves l'll go for a 10 kilometre Paddle on the 12ft Prone Paddleboard for some fitness & it Feels Great to be Pain FREE.

Kihei was going OFF today the wind was Nuking 36 knots with gust in the low 40's - it was great catching up with Legendary Maui Local the GOAT Jeremy Riggs - Jeremy posted this video of todays Kihei Run but I couldn't copy & past 🤔

I had BULK FUN on Kihei today got some EPIC BUMPS my GARMIN watch said my Heart Rate was 136 bpm to 175bpm = 80% to 104% and My maximum speed was 31.6 kph or 19.6mph on the BUMPS flying. I ate it a few time (out of control ) The problem when falling in the water is you will 💩 as there are so many Tiger Sharks lurking below "Help Me Please Mr Wizard" just hope it's quick?

Local Maui mate Randy, hit a big Green Sea Turtle. It stoped him dead ;Randy said I 💩 lucky it wasn't a Tiger Shark after checking his foil, Randy was good to go again.

Randy gave todays Run a 7/10 me gave it a 5.5/10
later this week conditions are LOOKING even BETTER ❤️it.

Kihei was Epic today 25 knot winds; I tried out the New GATOR 8’4” x 21 1/2 @ 115 Litres Got Some Awesome Bumps Gliding Left Gliding Right even Gliding straight over Swells it was "BULK FUN" but I only rated it 4/10 Good Mate Randy only rated it a 3/10 can’t wait to get above a 7/10 I have had a 9/10 on a Kihei Run but that was 10 years ago when we where all Paddling the 18ft SUP’s when Kihei is on the BUMPS ARE THAT GOOD it’s like taking candy from a baby.

If I was a Christian; "Blessed Are The Cheese Makers" - I’d be singing - if your happy and you know it clap your hand, if your happy and you know it and you really want to show it clap your hands. That how good today was Downwinding.

It was Great catching up with Big Wave Legend & Waterman Dave Kalama we Talked Story for like an hour. Dave Kalama is a Weapon.

I have Two Ultimate GATOR foil-boards = I find 115 litres has been Epic for me
8’10” x 19”inch @ 115 Litres
8’4” x 21” 1/2 inch @ 115 Litre

I use the 1160 AXIS wing
640mm Ultrashort Fuselage
50 Skinny tail wing
720mm Axis PRO Ultra High Modulus Carbon Mast

I'm JOJ (Just Of The Jet) even my coffee is smiling at me.

Got picked up at Honolulu Airport by Good Mate Blair Thorndike "my brother from another mother" and went an did some Prone Paddleboard Training like a short 6 mile ocean paddle then dropped some MR twin-fins of too Glenn Pang from T&C Surfboards me getting another custom surfboard - the waves are Pumping on the south shore at the moment. There's a Surf Into Summer Series on at Ala Moana Bowl 4ft Pumping "the tide was too high for Rice Bowls; Rice Bowls is my favourite wave in Waikiki, I got it 6ft Pumping Perfection the day after the 2016 Molokai2Oahu race , what a Bucket List Dream but I was so hungover" Ala Moana had huge surf 2 days ago like 10ft+. I do leave a surfboard under Blairs house BUT we are focused on the Molokai2Oahu Teams Prone Paddleboard Race. I still do Prone Paddleboard fitness training it's just the surfer in me for paddle strength power. I'll be back on MAUI in 2 days this Thursday, got all new AXIS gear SO looking forward to not some but plenty of Maliko & Kihei Downwind Foilboard Runs.

Great to be back on Maui this is like my 18 tour of Hawaii here for like 8 weeks. This was Kihei the other day, nuking 30+ knots

Got me a Custom 9ft x 21"inch Barracuda from Dave Kalama "super lite" (me a beginner KOOK foiler)

Went Jeremy Riggs flat water Pop-Ups yesterday at Kahului Harbour, very educational. I have been good friends with Jeremy Riggs for like 15 years already. Jeremy is the GOAT when it comes to being a coach his mannerism is Legendary 12/10

Even got me a sticker from DA FOIL MONSTA he film the session so you can work on your mistakes.

Hanging out with some great Maui friends, Kihei Run. Randy, Kathy & Tomoko

I'll be doing a lot of island hopping between Maui & Oahu as I still do Prone Paddleboard from a Surfers point of view Prone Paddleboarding complements Surfing especially when the sweep is firing on the Gold Coast Points you need to be a Strong Paddler.

Teaming up with My Brother From Another Mother Blair Thorndike for this years M20 - NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

I always travel with my surfboards the South Shore has been Pumping "I love Rice Bowls" that reef break is world class I've got it at 6ft & Pumping AND I always catch up with my Oahu friends at Ala Moana Bowl.

An old photo of me surfing the Burleigh Rocky photo by Wilba a professional photographer - So you can see I still love riding a Surfboard.

My old Boardriders Club Catherine Hill Bay (I was a member for like 20 years surfed for Catho against other Boardriders Clubs) are having there 50th in late August so looking forward to flying to Newcastle for that Night.

I enjoy Maui so much, I luv The People, The Place and The Vibe - I Named Both My Dogs Maui & Maliko, I luv my Dogs.
