I don’t think the plume is supposed to have very good low end. I was thinking about longer line / bridle length to improve low end than anything else. I think I remember Greg from BRM saying on a podcast that during his latest development process which resulted in the S3 he tried longer lines so he could start with a smaller board, but that came at the expense of stash ability.

Similarly on the Mattonfoil podcast Greg said that instead of carrying a bigger parawing as a back up, a line set would take up much less space.

I was guessing that something like 3-5m lines/bridles could give better low end while still being possible to launch on the water /in spots where you can’t launch a kite. I tried flying a peak on the bridles only, which are longer than a Parawing’s but the bridles are much more complicated and would not be fun on the water.

You are right. Plume does not have low end. But 5m are comfortable in up to 16m/s wind with gusts.
The Peaks, I bought, were modified by person who spent half a year playing with bridles and trying to find optimal tuning. For me it is more than magic. When I will get into kite and get some knowledge, then it would be interesting to experiment. But first I have to learn to fly it.

I think something between a parawing and a kite would probably sell to non- kiters. Shortish lines so easy to launch but long enough to sine and generate power for low end. Would require a bigger board than kitefoil. Probably worst of both worlds - can’t stow and surf hands free like a parawing and don’t have the low end of a kite. But I still think it would sell for cruising around / adventure foiling / low wind back up.

aren't you describing the F-one plume?

Yes, F-one Plume. I use it for really strong winds and I am thinking to use when it will be cold as with gloves it would be more demanding to untangle bridles. I still sometimes tangle quite a lot. My last record was 15 minutes of untangling process in high wind. It is still ok, but when temperature will drop, Plume will be more friendly alternative.

Hello, I need an advice. I am wingfoiler which started parawinging. I went to the parawinging because I lost my patients with ripping bladders, cracking of valves and windows of the wings. Si I started learning parawinging. I am using converted Flysurfer Peaks 4m and 5m. Using them I can fly within 11-16m/s wind range using 6.8’x22 and Sabfoil Tortuga 1250 foil. So for going lower 6-10m/s, I started to look at the foil kites. My idea is to choose the kite with which I could ride mountain board (I could learn in the near field before going into water), then foiling with my downwind board 6.8’x22 board and foil. Mainly I will use on inland lakes, launching from the water.
So I am wondering should I by 6.2m parawing or 9-10m kite. My budget is limited and I am not able to buy 777 7.2m parawing.

At 82 kgs, I use my 5.7 PW (Triple7 Hybrid) in 6 to 10 m/s all the time with a 95 litre mid (6'3'' x 20,75) and 1076 cm2 foil (Axis Surge 1010, also use the 950 frequently). I can stay on foil in less than 5 m/s for sure, down to maybe 4.

I hope I will learn better pumping and getting up on foil technique. As ex-windsurfer, I always relied on sail's power, pumping the sail. When I started winging, my main input was wing pumping, helping with legs was something secondary. Now with parawing, I have constantly rely on my feet, not parawing. But at the moment with your equipment I feel comfortable at 12-15m/s - Yesterday I was riding 6.8x22 100L board with Sabfoil Razor 1075 and F-One K-wing 5m also with 4m Peak parawing. On lulls it was disaster to get on foil

Yes, something between parawing and kite would be interesting. Maybe I should try kite with short lines (10-12m). At my riding place there is not much space for kite launching, except launch from water.
As I ride parawing, I do not stow it. I just leave it hooked while parawing stays at twelve, and I surf small lake waves. My surf periods are short, so I have always power available.
I ride similarly with the wing. I just go downwind, holding one hand on the boom. Wing generates some additional pull which compensates weak swell. But hooked parawing is less tiring comparing to wing riding one handed.

I decided to go for Gin Marabou V1 9m hybrid kite. I found in good condition and for a reasonable price. I hope it will be flyable when it arrives.

I bought Peaks already converted into parawings - lines shortened, home made bar for parawing.

At the moment I am mostly driving 'old school' Sabfoil: 1110 for light wind and 940 for strong wind. My winging location is inland lake with gusty wind which can calm down or suddenly for half an hour become very strong. Most driving power I get from wing as the waves in the lake are not powerful.
Now I am looking for one wing solution not to go to the shore and change foil when wind get up. Would Balz 969 could be optimal solution?

969 looks wide enough for gliding and thick enough for early lift.
