I have the 160-210. Love it, especially on the 7,8 Moto. But regret not getting the next one up as the boom end is better for putting a variable outhaul system on, and would have given me more options for larger sails if ever …

Please keep us updated on that 8,4 Moto. As my post on general forum says, I am struggling with the idea of getting one on top of my 7,8. Severneshop in UK told me to ride my Turbo 8,1 until it dies then see.

I am same age and same issues. I have a love hate relationship with my Moto 7,8 but just love my 6,4. Largely because I am out in lighter winds with the big one and they love to be a bit powered up compared to the Turbos I use. . I must admit tho they are a joy to use, light, fast, great top end. Less tiring than the 7,0 OD I have, slightly less “locked in”. They seem to take a few more yards to get going but that could be my poor technique, and my comparing them to Turbos which pull like tractors from the start even in low end. Thats the part I miss. But I can rig them a size bigger and not worry about not holding on. Ie rig big.
On the bigger 8,4 Moto you might want to convert to SDM. My 7,8 Moto is at its stiff limit I feel.

I have 2023 Gator 6.4 and NCX 7.0.
in light wind the Gator feels bigger. I can tune/play with set up alot and give it some belly. Yet I can hold the NCX in stronger wind and go faster - the tuning range seems less, more fixed/tighter.
The Gator feels better / playful on my wave/freeride board (Dyno), the NCX on a freerace (Futura).
So your answer could lie in the type of board you use.
I rig both on Blueline rdm 430s. I am 80kg.
I suspect a 7m Gator will get you going before the 7m NCX, but is not as slick once at speed.
construction wise I expect the Gator to last way longer.
i mainly sail in flatwater gusty conditions. I have concluded I prefer using a twin cam on freerace board for that. Out in the ocean, the Gator on freeride. Horses for courses.

Hello - may I ask, I have a Moto 7,8 but the bottom end isnt doing it for me. There are some cheap deals going. Would a new Mach5 7,8 be equivalent to getting a Moto 8,4 in bottom end ? For sailing on flat water. Kinda fancy a Mach, and getting a 7,8 rather than larger means I wouldn't have to get a new boom and mast.

Hello
i am looking at my Futura 100L/63 wide and wondering what might happen to me if I attempt an afternoon of speed runs with a much smaller fin.
its spec’d for 32 fin with a 6/6,4 m sail for my 80kg and runs nicely at around 30-33 knots peak with a Rhino Pro in flat water but I am no speed expert yet.
what do I risk if I put a 26 Black Project Speed fin on it this weekend, as am expecting 25-30 knts of wind. Butter flat water.
not worried about getting back upwind, can walk if have to.
but am worried about the 2 hr drive back home if I F-up.
stupid or go for it ?

I now have to reluctantly wear booties to protect my feet.
Now my feet often get stuck in the straps.
Especially after an intense run when they slip further in. Result, I can't wriggle out easily and crash. I hurt my feet. Doh.
I have tried both neoprene covered versions which seem to stick more on the neoprene straps and the slicker rubber covered versions which seem to slip further in.
As I recover from latest pain, may I ask for anyone else's experience please.
Is it better to have the straps even looser, or even tighter ? Or are there other tricks.
