Look at a weather service that gives the 4 to 6 weather models on an hourly basis, I like Predict wind but I'm sure there's others.
It's really interesting to see what the various models are predicting and definitely gives you a better idea of what's going to happen.
and if the models don't agree a few hours out, then there's some real funky weather coming ;)

Yes I heard a story a while back about someone getting into their dinghy and it capsizing. It definitely made me think about that, and so I installed a fold down telescopic ladder on the deck with a line that hangs over the side tied to the bottom rung. If I fall in, I know I can reach the rope and pull the ladder down to get back onboard.

Talk at the club tonight was it hit a whale not a rock, but in that 1st photo it seems close to the marker?
