+1 forget about windsurfing in Phuket, wrong place, wrong month (transition to "winter" northerlies), and 25 years too late 😂
even with your own gear and good winds, rampant overdevelopment to the waters edge means just accessing a suitable launch spot is hyper challenging
renting a sea kayak or SUP is the way to go - forget about windsurfing lessons or adrenalin, just enjoy the scenery 😎
there are 2 excellent clubs in Jomtien, and remnants of windsurfing in Hua Hin, in case you come to TH again

Agree 😎
New experience for me at 65yo, as never done longboards or raceboards
Simple, versatile, built tough, and loads of fun - plenty of foil or fin days here in Thailand, but LT is often the go to when wind is marginal, or short chop/shorebreak are too nasty (somehow in our "winter" northerlies we get light fluky winds combined with high wind water state 😂)
Ditched the centreboard, it tracks upwind fine without
Added Exocet flat deck cover, so easy to move around the board
Using 36 freeride fin
Gybes well enough if my technique is on, finding it helps to move back to increase pivot
Also bought Ezzy Zephyr 7.5, super low aspect shape designed for longboards, fantastic upgrade and 10cm outhaul tuning range means it handles 5-20+ knots no drama, and at 95kg I like more power
Superb toy, adds many days on the water, turns light or sketchy conditions into big fun, also (surprisingly) great option for wilder conditions, ride swells/small waves, plus works well as SUP 😀
Love that Windsurfer race scene has thrived for so many decades, but no racing required, LT is one-board-does-it-all 😀
