For a Roberts 26 in calm estuary waters, an outboard conversion is a common and practical solution when the inboard keeps failing. A 9.9–15hp long shaft on a strong transom bracket can be cheaper and more reliable. Just make sure the transom is reinforced and you plan for steering and low-speed control.

Standard Tuttle works fine in a Deep Tuttle box. Deep Tuttle is mainly just stronger for higher loads like big sails and faster sailing but for most normal use there is no real performance benefit over standard.
