Oh look if it gets worse we are all on half price roast chooken from Woolies.
im far more concerned about our mouse plague that is roughly 10x the mice per hectare than needed to declare plague.

And a little fertiliser shortage and diesel shortage at seeding time. Massive reduction in grain crop means less feed for all farmed animals as well as the primary use for us. But the news are picking up on a handful of petrels as it’s easier to scare people with bird flu than mouse plague.
quick buy dunny paper 🙄

Very true Mark, but they’re talking of mass deaths of black swans 99% and 60% of seals. Couple that with SA,s algae deaths, it just might tip a lot of other species to the brink.

Bird flu has arrived at Beachport and having it in the Creasted Terns is alarming and extremely sad for the area. They are the birds that we see darting into the water as we sail. Black Swans have no protection from this disease either. Not sure how it will play out for us sailing there in summer as the disease can survive in water. All the briefing that we’ve had some far a painting a very grim future for all our native animals.

As humans we tend to ostracise things that are different.

Yep. And that was my experience with step hulls and they didn’t turn particularly well either. The one I have is fun to run for something different but it’s not faster or smoother than my current boards. Well done for having a crack at revisiting an old idea

Just had a briefing on this and it’s not good. 70% mortality rate in seals, extremely high death rate for black swans. Tassie Devils and Tiger Quolls vulnerable due to their feeding habits. Officials are looking at vaccines for critical bird and mammal species that have very small populations in wild. Hopefully enough survive this.
