A member of the public reported that the kite surfer appeared to be experiencing difficulty recovering his kite before eventually leaving the water and the area.
Local Marine Rescue personnel subsequently recovered the kite (pictured), and police are seeking to confirm that the kite surfer safely exited the water and was not injured.
The kite surfer, or anyone with information that may assist police to identify him and confirm his welfare, is asked to contact South Hedland Police on 9160 2100.
