Hi there, does the Sabfoil 909 fit easily onto the Slingshot Phantasm 872 fuselage? I wanted to swap out my foil's front wing (PFI 730) to improve performance and, above all, speed.

Here’s a quick review of the North Sails 5m Xover, tested with my Slingshot PFI 730 foil and Wizard 114 board. The water was fairly choppy, with swells reaching up to 1.20 meters, though the conditions weren't technically demanding. Wind speeds ranged from 12–21 knots, then 18.5–27.5 knots, and finally 16–22 knots. The sail feels incredibly light—both on the beach and on the water—and you quickly forget you're even holding it. It delivers plenty of power, yet the delivery is very progressive and never abrupt. Surprisingly, it makes absolutely no noise; it works silently and absorbs everything, offering incredible comfort. Its wind range is impressive—it could easily replace both my 4.7m and 5.3m sails. I never felt overpowered and always felt in control. I found myself riding for an hour longer than usual and venturing further out than normal (was it higher speed? more confidence? greater comfort? I can't say for sure yet). But what impressed me most was how quickly the sail becomes completely neutral—a real treat for confidently riding the swell. That neutrality, combined with smooth batten rotation, makes jibing incredibly easy. For the record, I rigged it with one of my 4m Simmer RDM Simmer masts (I tried with a specialist in the shop), and it works perfectly at this size. It’s a definite keeper for foiling!

I will try a North sails Xover 5m today with my slingshot wizard 114 + Phantasm pfi 730. 12–13 knots of wind, then 17–18 knots late in the day. It will be a good test. I’ll post a report on the forum after my session.

The 2016 4.7 is dead! Don't you think going from a 5.9 Simmer Icon to a 4.7 Blacktip is too big a jump?

Thank you thedoor. I’ve owned a 5.3 Icon and a 4.7 Blacktip. The 5.3 was almost redundant with the 5.9 (if I want less power from the 5.9, I switch to a 4.00m mast). Initially, I was thinking of getting a 5.0 Blacktip (or evoq) to bridge the gap between the 4.2 and the 5.9. I think that’s still a solid choice, especially since I use these sails with my JP Freestyle Wave 103. But the suggestion to go for a 4.8 Severne might actually be the better move?

Hello everyone, I’m new to this forum, which seems very active! I’m French and I sail in Normandy—both at sea and on lakes near Paris where conditions often range from 10 to 14 knots. I have a Slingshot Wizard 114 with a Phantasm 730 foil. I use Simmer sails: an Icon 5.9 and a Blacktip 4.2. Which sail would you recommend to fill the gap between them?
