Why are the forecasts so wrong?

In short

Forecasts can miss — coastal wind is hard; compare models and neighbours.

Sometimes they will be — weather is chaotic, and coastal wind is especially fiddly.

  • Models disagree; we blend and present what is useful for wind sports, which will not always match another site or a TV bulletin.
  • Local effects (cliffs, river mouths, sea breeze timing) can beat a grid forecast for a few hours.
  • Compare several days and neighbouring locations before writing a day off.

Also see different to the BoM, different to other sites, and how the weather / seabreeze works.
