The launch is rocky, there's gusts, a strong current, tidal and Venturi effects, and junk in the water. I studied this river for several years before attempting to wing here. Why do I ride here? B/c it's a 5 minute walk from where I live. This day was particularly gusty due to the NW wind coming across and unable to set-up a regular flow down the river. I've officially given-up winging here in NW winds. It's much better from the SW.
