Video about an Australian attempt to capture the World Sailing Speed Record circa 1985. Filmed over a 2 year period, the 55' plywood catamaran was named "Big Bandicoot" (built 1978/79) and didn't manage to get the record. "Big Bandicoot" gets a mention in the Sydney Morning Herald on 28/Jul/1978 after launch but before record attempts. It ended up being converted to a cruising cat. It is currently on the Australian Register of Ships,home port Darwin. This video was copied from a vhs tape and has a few glitches as you might expect.
