I built my own windfoil front wing. The goal was to design something small and efficient for 15 to 20+ knots of wind while still being stable and controllable. I wanted to hand shape the wing as much as possible, without using a mold. In this video I walk through the whole process: Designing the wing shape and airfoil Building a steam-bending jig Shaping the foil by hand Laminating the wood core with carbon fiber The finished wing ended up around 75 cm span and roughly 550–580 cm² with a gull-wing shape, −1° washout at the tips, and 1° angle of incidence (angle relative to the fuse). Some things went exactly as planned. Some things definitely didn’t! But that’s part of building things by hand.
