Turn heads with backloops! This move is accessible for everyone willing to commit to the takeoff. Balz 'Radiculo' Müller breaks down the windfoil backloop. Believe it or not, backloops are actually easier on foil than with fin. The swing weight slows the rotation, you've got less sail power, so it's more forgiving. Thanks to the foil's enormous pop, you can jump them even on a flat lake. BACKLOOP TECHNIQUE - STEP BY STEP: The Approach: 1. Carve slightly upwind 2. Take off upright 3. Push hard down with back foot while pulling up front leg 4. Bring sail close (boom almost touching chest) 5. Look over your shoulder 6. Grab boom wide (controls clew power on landing) BOOM BOOM BOOOOOM - You've got this! --- WHY FOIL BACKLOOPS ARE EASIER: Compared to Fin: → Swing weight slows the rotation (more control) → Less sail power (more forgiving) → Front wing's pop creates perfect takeoff → Makes windsurfing jumps easier to learn → Can throw air tricks even on flat lake "The front wing's pop makes up for the lack of waves and creates a perfect takeoff." - Balz --- CRITICAL: ARM POSITION & CONTROL Grab Boom Wide: → Not necessarily needed in lighter breeze → Very important to control clew power on landing Stay Compact: → Arms tucked in (always room to sheet out) → Never approach with stretched arms → Stretched arms = over-rotation, no sail control → Compact = control over sail spin "Never approach the backloop with stretched arms, 'cause you will over-rotate and have no control over the sail spin." - Balz --- PROGRESSION PATH: Start Small: → Flat horizontal upwind rotation first → Progress to jumping higher → Move towards more inverted orbit rotation Advanced Goal: "Trust me, back-to-back backloops up on the foil will happen." - Balz --- COMMITMENT IS KEY: "This move is accessible for everyone willing to commit to the takeoff. Just dare to take off. Nothing can happen." - Balz The foil makes this move more accessible than you think. --- PREVIOUS TUTORIALS: → Ep. 8: Safety & Risk Management: https://youtu.be/3tovoF_BISw → Ep. 7: Upwind Carving 360: https://youtu.be/gB6cwrcmivQ → Ep. 6: Chop Hop & Shovit: https://youtu.be/u7minUiBbQY → Ep. 5: Duck Tack: https://youtu.be/jsdCmoato9E → Ep. 4: Duck Gybe: https://youtu.be/unuUitGM7eg → Ep. 3: Carrying Your Windfoil Gear: https://youtu.be/_u9bpA_RIdg → Ep. 2: Downwind 180 Kono: https://youtu.be/VQHZ0JmEON0 → Season 2 Kick-Off Recording: https://youtu.be/pUq1J2fxv7s DOWNLOAD BALZ'S PROGRESSION FRAMEWORK: 🔗 [INSERT FRAMEWORK LINK] --- COMMUNITY: Landed your first backloop?
