REMINDER: Sydney Season Opener Sunday at Narrabeen
Hey folks,

Just a reminder that Sunday from noon onwards at the Narrabeen Surf Club, NSWKBA and Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club will host a "Massive Season Opener".

www.facebook.com/events/222668221195248/

Conditions look windy with some significant surf happening, along with two hours of KiteSkills sessions, Sydney Uni Crazy Kitesurfers (SUCK) Fancy Dress kite race and BBQ/beers at the end.

Events and food are FREE for current NSWKBA members. Non-members $5 sausage sizzle and $15 dinner BBQ. Drinks extra.

Non-members welcome!

NOTE: there are three surf clubs in Narrabeen. It's the one in the middle on Ocean Street, just South of Albert Street HERE:
LOCATION: goo.gl/maps/t6ZVz

Parking: Important! Warringah Council Rangers patrol the club area regularly so unless you have a Warringah Parking Sticker, you'll need to park on the main road outside of the club parking area on Ocean Street (BTW, the semi-circle labelled as “Ocean Street” on Google Maps by the club is actually where you can only park with a Warringah Parking sticker (it's not actually Ocean street…)

Shoes: The club has a no-sand, shoes-required policy for the upstairs presentation area, so make sure you bring some form of footware. Thongs are OK.

SCHEDULE:

Here's the most current schedule of events. This may shift somewhat, depending on conditions.

12 Noon START TIME: sausage sizzle on the BBQ; Staging, setup and kiting
1:30. Sausage sizzle finishes.
1:30 KiteSkills Clinics Begin in the Club House on Level 1; North side of building adjacent to the bar

Hey crew, Just a reminder that the NSWKBA Annual General Meeting AND Kite Skills clinic is TONIGHT at the Kirribilli Club in Lavender Bay at 7pm

kirribilliclub.com.au/
goo.gl/maps/o5d4

To spice things up a bit there are a couple of kite skills clinics happening beforehand that should be fun and useful

AGM & Kite Skills Session - Surf riding, strapless & racing: 7pm Tuesday 10 July, Kirribilli Club

NSKBA also also needs volunteers; especially:

* Marketing/comms person - someone to run the website, emails, Facebook etc.
* Calling all kitesurf lawyers - assistance on evaluating Association vs Incorporation

Any new Committee members are welcome to join us. Your nominations please - please nominate yourself or others.

NSW shops & schools - who are you? We want to promote you.
SUCK Snowkiting Trip - late August, exact date TBC

NSWKBA raceboards - Two boards can be borrowed by members from KP and WSS (trailer too)

AGM & Kite Skills Session

7pm Tuesday 10 July at the Kirrribili Club
Join us for food, beer, the AGM and some free Kitesurf Teaching:

AGENDA:

"Lose the straps" & "Carving up the waves" - Rob Smallwood

"Racing the wind gods" - Chris Argent

Whether you're expert, intermediate or a brand new fresh kiter - there will be something to learn and something to inspire you.

Committee nominations:

Attending members can vote on the night for the NSWKBA committee for the next 12 months.

We welcome all nominations for the committee. Feel free to nominate yourself. Yep, that's the way it normally works.

What does being on the committee mean?

• Attend most of the monthly committee meetings (8pm sharp 2nd Tuesday, Kirribilli Club)
• Act in the interest of the NSWKBA kiting community
• Put in some hard work to get some good stuff done

If you think you fit the bill, and want to help out, we do want to hear from you.

The Kirribilli Club serves good food and beer too!

All NSKWBA members are welcome to drop in.

Have you got marketing & comms skills?

Marketing people: In particular we are looking for someone to join the Committee to take the bull by the horns on all things internet, marketing and communications - - - someone with the necessary IT skills, but more importantly someone with a passion for design, Facebook and all that good stuff - - and importantly someone who has the time to make it happen.

Lawyers:
We are looking for someone with legal skills to give us some (free) advice on evaluating the merits of our existing Association status vs the potential to Incorporate. Let us know if you have the skills and the time/inclination to guide us through this thinking.

Shops / Schools / Repairs:
Jono is updating the NSWKBA website's list of NSW Kite Shops, Kite Schools/Coaching or places that do Kite Repairs. If you offer any of these services could you please take a moment to complete the following form: www.nswkba.com.au/addShop

SUCK Snow Kiting Trip:
Winter is here. Exchange the twintip for a snowboard and the wettie for a ski jacket! Your kite can pull you on the slopes of the Snowy Mountains faster than the ski lifts! S.U.C.K. (Sydney Uni Crazy Kitesurfers) is organising a Snowkiting weekend in late August, register here!

Raceboards and Trailer and Events:
We've got 2 Raceboards (one at WSS and the other at KP), which all members are welcome to borrow.

Also if you need assistance with running an kiting event, or would like to use the trailer please let us know.

Townsville:
Congrats to the NSW Racers who made it up to Townsville. The wind was brutally unkind to us, and was very scarce. However Ric Black and Dave Sorensen did NSW proud by being the only riders to complete any of the races, while Jordan Girdis and Chris Argent also courageously made it into the races. Jordan had fun showing everyone how to ride in less than 8 knot winds on 62m lines. Well done to Ric Black on winning both races!

Olympics: It really looks like racing is going to increase in popularity over the next little while - especially in the build up to the 2016 Rio Olympics. There was a good crowd of NSW Racers, Freestylers and Kiting supporters. It's good to be back in NSW - where the wind blows! :)

Cheers & Happy Kiting,

Jono and Alex on behalf of the NSWKBA Committee
